Lydia Plath and her boyfriend Zac Wyse are taking things at their own pace.
In PEOPLE’s exclusive look at the season 7 premiere of Welcome to Plathville, the 21-year-old opens up about her new relationship. While she and Zac are getting more serious, Lydia reveals they have implemented some strict boundaries when it comes to intimacy.
“What was the first kiss like?” a producer asks Lydia in her confessional.
“Hasn’t happened,” she replies, explaining that it was Zac’s decision. “So he has committed, and I guess now I have committed to saving our first kiss for our wedding day, if that day shall come. So I can’t tell you what the first kiss is like, because it just ain’t happened yet.”

Zac says that he didn’t want the physicality “to get in the way of really getting to know someone.”
“So I brought it up to her,” he recalls. “I was just like, ‘What do you think?’ And she was like, ‘I’ve really actually always wanted that. I’ve always thought that would be a really sweet thing.’”
As they walked around outside and climbed a tree together, he admits that there are “tempting” moments, but the Christian couple have found other ways to connect with one another during those times.
“I think self-control is just a way that we can represent the Lord together,” Zac notes. “And we’re going to have even more fun and we’re going to even do more things, like skip around or dance or those sorts of things.”
“It’s a closer moment, and it’s better than kissing, really,” he adds, prompting a laugh out of Lydia.

“I think it’s pretty safe to say that we’re both looking forward to our first kiss when it’s time,” Lydia quips. “But that time isn’t yet.”
The pair are planning to take the next step, despite only dating for a few months.
Zac affirms that he intends to marry Lydia soon and says their promise not to kiss until then makes it all the more exciting.
“We’re not dating to just do whatever and pursue our hearts desires,” he explains. “We want to be intentional, so I would love to have a conversation with your dad to ask for your hand in marriage.”

The journey to Lydia and Zac’s wedding is documented on Welcome to Plathville season 7.
In the trailer for the upcoming installment of the hit TLC reality show — which follows Lydia, her eight siblings and their parents, Kim and Barry Plath — she claimed that she knew Zac “was the one” immediately after meeting him for the first time. However, her brothers were skeptical of the relationship.
The pair ultimately got engaged in December 2024 and tied the knot at her family’s home in Georgia two months later. Speaking to PEOPLE at the time, Zac addressed having their first kiss at the altar.
“The discipline it has taken to save our first kiss for the wedding day is an example of the commitment we have for each other going into our marriage,” he said.
