Nothing will make you re-evaluate your closet like moving. I’m switching apartments next month, which means my days will soon be filled with lots of decluttering. Staring at the mounds of clothes I have to go through has re-invigorated my interests in a capsule wardrobe, which is why I tapped personal stylist Samantha Dawn for some much-needed guidance.  

While I previously thought curating a capsule wardrobe needed to be a precise, exact science, my favorite tip from Dawn debunked that myth entirely. “There’s no ‘right’ number of pieces for your capsule wardrobe,” said the expert. “Some people say you have to have a certain number of pieces, but rather than focusing on the number, focus on the quality of your pieces, the cohesion of your pieces, and of course making sure the pieces align with your personal style.”
