Havaianas Flip-Flops Are Worn by Kylie Jenner and Gigi Hadid

This summer’s biggest footwear trends have been all about practicality and nostalgia (think: jelly shoes, retro sneakers, etc.)—and no shoe better captures those vibes than Havaianas flip-flops. If you were born in the ‘90s or early 2000s, chances are you grew up wearing the cult-favorite rubber sandals, and now they’re back in a big way with the stamp of approval from Hollywood’s most stylish stars. 

For example, Jennifer Lopez has been spotted wearing the laidback shoes, and Gigi Hadid is such a fan that she launched a collaboration with the Brazilian brand earlier this summer. Most recently, Kylie Jenner shared an Instagram carousel of vacation photos, including a shot of her and her friends all sporting Havaianas sandals. Besides giving total girls’ trip goals, the photo series may as well be an ad for Havaianas—it totally inspired me to invest in a few new pairs.

Slim Flip-Flops

I already own the Slim Flip-Flops in white, but as I’ve been wearing them nonstop for the past two summers, I’m definitely due for another pair. Among the styles featured in Jenner’s Instagram post, these sleek sandals perfectly complement a tan and a pastel pedicure.

Since I grew up wearing Havaianas, their comfort and durability didn’t come as a surprise; however, I have been impressed by their versatility when it comes to styling. When I first got them last summer, I knew I’d be wearing them to the beach and to run errands around my neighborhood, but I’ve also been experimenting with wearing them for nights out, brunch with my BFFs, and even dates. 

For a casual look, I tend to keep it simple by pairing my Havaianas with a ribbed white tank and baggy jeans or boxer shorts, plus some gold jewelry and sunglasses. If I’m dressing them up, I love the way they look with a flowy white maxi skirt and a colorful or printed top. For the latter look, a vintage silk scarf doubles as a chic strapless crop top.

The angled toe and squared-off heel of the Slim Square Flip-Flops lend a high-fashion edge to an otherwise classic silhouette. These flip-flops have been on my wishlist for a while, and after seeing them on Jenner’s Instagram, I’m finally ready to take the plunge.

Gigi Hadid Slim Square Flip-Flops

With a beachy yellow-orange ombré color palette, these flip-flops from Gigi Hadid’s Havaianas collection are the embodiment of sunshine. I adore how Hadid styled them with an embroidered mini dress for a dressier occasion.

Gigi Hadid Top Flip-Flops 

Another style from Hadid’s collection, the Top Flip-Flops feature thicker straps and a surf-inspired wave design. I can easily envision these becoming my go-to beach flip-flops, paired with a bikini and a crochet cover-up.  

Slim Crystal Flip-Flops

Also featured in Jenner’s Instagram post, the Slim Crystal Flip-Flops have a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it rhinestone embellishment on the toe for a touch of subtle sparkle. If you’re worried the flip-flop trend may be a tad too casual for you, these sandals are a great compromise. (Pro tip: The white pair would be so cute for a bridal look.)

Brazil Logo Flip-Flops

Havaianas is an iconic Brazilian brand, so what better pair to start your collection than these flag logo flip-flops. I’m personally eyeing the white pair since it will match everything in my closet, but there are tons of colorful options including light blue, neon green, and coral.
