How to Style Jelly Shoes for Summer, Per an Editor

As a fashion lover with a somewhat maximalist sense of style, I’ve felt seen by this summer’s refreshingly playful trends. From polka dots to bubble hems to oversized silhouettes, the minimalist clean girl aesthetic has been replaced by a “more is more” approach that encourages individualistic self expression. So, it’s no surprise that one of this summer’s biggest shoe trends is a colorful, polarizing throwback—jelly shoes. And I’ve embraced them with open arms.

The jelly shoes I’ve been living in this summer—the blue Jeffrey Campbell Jellz Slip-Ons— are nearly sold out in every size and color (but if you act fast, you can find a few left at Nordstrom). However, the brand’s Sea Glass Jelly Mules are a great alternative—and they come in a similar marine blue shade. 

These jelly shoes were on my wishlist for a while before I finally committed to them, so I knew I would love the quirky, nostalgic aesthetic. One of my worries was that the synthetic material would rub against my feet and cause blisters and irritation, but I was pleasantly surprised to find that they’re also incredibly comfortable right out of the box. Based on the reviews, the Sea Glass Jelly Mules are a comfy choice as well, with one shopper writing they “are like walking on a cloud.”
