Do you ever look at a photo of Selena Gomez and Taylor Swift and think, They’re just so them?
If the influencers and dated magazine articles are to be believed, your 30s are your time to solidify your personal style—to develop signatures and lean into them. And the BFFs, who’ve been close since their teen years, have certainly carved out slivers of the style world that are all their own.
Take as proof this photo of the pair that Gomez shared on social media on July 20 from her 33rd birthday party. Gomez, always the goof in pics, is squatting in a pile of metallic balloons, reaching for the camera, while Swift, her bangs and red lipstick as perfectly in place as ever, leans back to gaze dreamily up at t—, are on brand for the duo.

“As I prepare to celebrate my 33rd birthday, I can’t help but reflect on the incredible journey that has brought me here,” Gomez wrote alongside a carousel of photos featuring the actor with family, friends, and her fiancé, Benny Blanco. “This past year has truly been the most beautiful year of my life, and I owe so much of that to all of you.”
The pair are often photographed together at least a couple times per season, always in coordinating looks that prove they’re on the same wavelength (or that they texted each other some outfit options pre-meetup). Depending on the occasion, Gomez will opt for something a little traditional and super polished, while Swift tends to keep it more playful preppy. For Gomez’s birthday, Swift turned it down a bit while Gomez turned it all the way up, pairing her jumpsuit with a fluffy textured coat. She’s the birthday girl, after all.
Speaking in an interview about her and Blanco’s joint album, I Said I Love You First, earlier this year, Gomez reflected on Swift’s friendship: “With Taylor, I value her opinion so much because she’s super honest,’ she said. “So, I always play her—on any of my albums—like the top two. I like to see what she says. And she’s done the same.”
Swift, 35, and Gomez, 32, have often celebrated each other on social media over the years. When Gomez revealed her engagement to Blanco back in December 2024, Swift commented, “Yes I will be the flower girl.” And when Swift revealed that she’d bought back her catalog, it was Gomez’s turn to comment: “Yes you did that Tay. So proud!”
