The long-gestating thriller The Savant, starring Jessica Chastain, will make its way onto Apple TV+ in the fall.
The limited series, inspired by a 2019 Cosmopolitan story, is set to premiere Sept. 26. Apple TV+ also offered up a first look at Chastain in character (at the top of the post) as an undercover investigator who “infiltrates online hate groups in an effort to stop domestic extremists before they act,” per the show’s logline.
The Savant has been in the works for some time. Apple TV+ ordered the series from Fifth Season more than two years ago, in March 2023. In the time between then and the premiere date, Chastain has signed on to another series at the streamer, an art-world drama called The Dealer that will also star Adam Driver.
The cast of The Savant also includes Nnamdi Asomugha, Cole Doman, Jordana Spiro, Trinity Lee Shirley, Toussaint Francois Battiste, and guest star Pablo Schreiber.
Melissa James Gibson (Anatomy of a Scandal, The Americans) executive produces with Chastain and her Freckle Films partner Kelly Carmichael, Alan Poul, director Matthew Heineman (Cartel Land) and Anonymous Content’s David Levine and Garrett Kemble. Andrea Stanley, who wrote the Cosmopolitan story that serves as the show’s source material, is a consultant.
