Thank God Katie Holmes is out here looking amazing in denim overalls. Now, I can stock my fall wardrobe full of overalls and if anyone questions me I can just say, “Look at this picture of Katie Holmes wearing overalls and tell me I don’t look cool.” The fact that Holmes is wearing the overalls in character while filming Happy Hours, a new film trilogy she’s making with her Dawson’s Creek costar Joshua Jackson, is irrelevant. She looks so cool. And most importantly, comfy.

Of course, I realize that a lot of the reason that Holmes looks so cool in the overalls is due to the styling. In the photos, taken on the Happy Hours set in New York City on July 22, Holmes has turned overalls into a meditation on layering. Under the denim, she wears a dark, long-sleeved T-shirt under a short-sleeved T-shirt in a similar dark color. She has also rolled the cuffs of the overalls several times, revealing a pair of chocolate brown leather boots underneath. The fact that Holmes hasn’t done much to her hair only adds to the outfit’s overall chicness.
