Odell takes readers all the way back to 2002, when Paltrow was dating her The Royal Tenenbaums costar Luke Wilson. “After her father’s death [in October 2002], Gwyneth started smoking cigarettes again, and realized she wanted to start her own family,” Odell writes. “She had thought about having a baby with Luke Wilson, but, according to one of Gwyneth’s friends, he smoked a lot of pot and didn’t seem ready to be a parent.”
As the tale goes, Paltrow and Wilson met on set of the dramedy in 2001 and dated for a year, though few details are known about their coupling.

In the same excerpt, Odell explained that Paltrow had asked director Mary Wigmore to stay with her in London, where they planned to see a Coldplay concert. It was during this time, October 2002, that the Iron Man star first met Martin.
Paltrow and Martin’s spark was strong, as they were already stirring up engagement rumors by November 2003, when they began house hunting in north London. Their romance did indeed move quickly, as they confirmed they were expecting their first child on December 3, 2003, and tied the knot just two days later during a surprise ceremony in Santa Barbara, California. They welcomed their baby girl Apple on May 14, 2004, and Moses followed behind on April 8, 2006.

However, after more than a decade of marriage, the two announced they were going to “consciously uncouple and co-parent” on March 25, 2014. They have remained close after their split and moved on to other romantic relationships.
In July 2014, the Goop founder started dating Brad Falchuk, who she exchanged vows with on September 29, 2018. Meanwhile, Martin struck up a romance with Dakota Johnson in October 2017, though the two recently called in quits last month.
