“I’ve just needed a moment,” Pulliam said about her delay in addressing Warner’s death
Keshia Knight Pulliam is breaking her silence on Malcolm-Jamal Warner‘s death. On Sunday, Pulliam shared a video of her Cosby Show co-star playing bass, captioning it with a tribute to the actor.
“A week ago I lost my big brother but I gained an angel… I love you,” Pulliam wrote under the video, filmed at City Winery in Atlanta. “I miss you.”
Warner played Theodore Huxtable, the only son of Bill Cosby’s Cliff Huxtable on the show, while Pulliam played Rudy Huxtable, the youngest of the family’s children. Her post ended with a reference to Cosby‘s Huxtable kids: “We got our girls.”
On her Instagram Story, Pulliam thanked her followers for supporting her after Warner’s death, addressing her delay in speaking out. “Thank you for every text, call and all of the love that you have sent my way,” she wrote on the Story. “I’ve just needed a moment.”
Warner died of asphyxia on July 20 after being caught by a high current while swimming in Costa Rica. The Caribbean Guard, a volunteer lifeguard association, said lifeguards were patrolling other beaches when the actor’s drowning occurred.
“It was all very fast, and even though there were people on the beach who came in to rescue him, they didn’t arrive in time,” the Caribbean Guard said in a statement on Facebook. The association noted that Playa Grande, where the drowning occurred, is one of its “most challenging beaches.”
Following news of Warner’s death, stars from Beyoncé and Jamie Foxx to his TV wife Tracee Ellis Ross and Jennifer Love Hewitt shared their condolences with his family and reflected on his legacy.
