Pinstripe pants and corset, white shirt and icy stare: welcome back to the set of The Devil Wears Prada 2, a sequel to the beloved 2006 comedy currently shooting in New York. Nearly 20 years later, we’re finally seeing the return of Emily Blunt’s Emily Charlton—who still seems to love her job.
And with a look like that, it couldn’t be any other way. For her first appearance on set—at least, the first photographed by paparazzi—the actor wore an original Jean Paul Gaultier black-and-white pinstripe suit, consisting of wide pants and a corset embellished with laces, overlaid with a white shirt and a bustier top by Wiederhoeft.
Emily also sports a leather lanyard around her neck, and the logo of the Parisian fashion house Dior peeps out on the white shirt below her bustier. The same logo is also visible on her glasses (strictly black, with some contrasting white outline) as well as on her handbag, a soft D-Journey hobo—one of the latest models launched by the brand—that is also black with gold details. She is, of course, also wearing heels, though they’re concealed by the wide pants.
This shot of Blunt follows initial glimpses of Anne Hathaway, who is back in the shoes (and what shoes!) of Andy Sachs, and Meryl Streep, who has once again stepped into those of Miranda Priestly. Let us hope that the second film has something special in store for the wicked but ultimately hapless (and likable) Emily—something at least as singular as the style she wears for her return.
