Every month, I test dozens of products—and most of the time, my favorites skew makeup-heavy. But at the ripe young age of 30, my skin is clearer and more radiant than ever. This has made me obsessed with looking glass-like, leading to the discovery of Clarins’ anti-aging serum and Personal Day’s pore-obliterating strips.
On the makeup end, I’ve scaled back to accommodate the heat and make the most of my current #blessings, which is how I discovered Hourglass’ skin tint and Ultra Violette’s makeup-friendly SPF mist.

Clarins Double Hydric + Lipidic System Anti-Aging Serum
Nordstrom
Now that I’m in my 30s, I am taking anti-aging products more seriously, since prevention is the best cure. Finding something that works (for those nasolabial folds and all) has been a challenge, though; my skin is starting to show signs of wear and tear, but it is not yet parched or drained of elasticity. I have been testing products high and low, and I’ve finally settled on this Clarins serum.
Following several tweaks and upgrades, everything about this product—from the formula down to the pump—is perfect. The first of the two serums targets aging that’s caused by the passage of time and the second the signs of aging caused by environmental stressors. Together, it provides everything you could ask for: firmer, tighter, smoother, and less-wrinkled skin. Plus, this new bottle features a mechanism that dispenses the exact amount of product needed.
DevaCurl Wave Maker Lightweight Moisturizing Hair Definer
Nordstrom
Being that I’m a beauty editor, I’m always giving recommendations and never receiving them. This changed during a recent trip to see my younger sister. “You have to try the leave-in conditioner I’ve been using. My hair hasn’t seen frizz all summer,” she said.
Despite her hair being straight-wavy and mine being curly with ringlets, I was just as impressed. My curls were defined, bouncy, and frizz-free despite the 60 percent humidity. I have missed the product every day since I left my sister’s place, and it is at the top of my must-buy list.
Personal Day Unplug Blackhead-Melting Nose Strips
Personal Day
Whenever I hear of a product that eradicates pores, my eyes roll so far into the back of my head I get worried they’ll get stuck there. So, please take me very seriously when I tell you this is the closest you’ll ever get to a poreless, blackhead-free nose.
Ziip Nanocurrent and Microcurrent Skin Treatment Device
Ziip
It only took 30 years, but I’ve finally outgrown full-face acne. That does not mean I’m blemish-free, though; I am still prone to these invisible zits that are sore and welt-like. Besides the entire thing just sucking, they stick around for weeks, and the only way to obliterate them is with a steroid injection, which is both time-consuming and expensive. This has the same effect but with an affordable one-time payment for a lifetime of use.
Ultra Violette Preen Screen SPF 50 Facial Reapplication Sunscreen Mist
Sephora
If you plan on staving off evidence of aging, sun protection is the most important thing. Using skin care without it is like opening an umbrella when you’re already soaked. And, IYKYK, SPF needs to be reapplied every two hours, which can feel quite impossible when you’re wearing a full face. Mists are therefore the answer, though it’s hard to find one that plays well with makeup.
Ultra Violette’s Preen Screen is the golden child. It’s a setting and refreshing spray with SPF 50 in a bottle small enough to fit in most purses. Better yet, it extends makeup wear in even the most oppressive heat.
