Autumn is fashion’s big annual reset—and luckily enough for our collective closets, 2025’s fall fashion trends are perhaps even more exciting than usual. As with last year, boho is still at the forefront, with romantic lace dresses, suede boots, and faux-fur coats giving off a distinctly ’70s vibe. But the look is evolving: Washed-out plaids and cropped trenches are bringing things firmly into a new era, and making our wardrobes all the more versatile for it.
Beyond earth tones and sheer materials, though, fall will also be defined by bolder swings. The color of the season is purple, believe it or not, and an eclectic take on minimalism is ready to help you make a splash at your next dressed-up event. (You’ll also never guess what’s replacing leopard print this year.) Ready to bring your rotation up to speed? These are the major fall fashion trends our editors are shopping now.

Earthy plaid, full skirts, luxuriously thick outerwear—so many of fall’s standout runways featured hallmarks of the English countryside. At Ralph Lauren, Isabel Marant, and Patou, models in heritage checks and plaids could have been right at home in the Cotswolds. Equestrian touches at Burberry and MKDT Studio, meanwhile, made a strong case for the return of riding boots. And luxury met performance at Louis Vuitton and Victoria Beckham, where the outerwear looked sturdy enough to withstand country chores.
