There’s never been a movie quite like KPop Demon Hunters.
After its release in June 2025, the critically acclaimed animated musical became the most-watched animated movie in Netflix’s history, with over 26.3 million views in a single week.
“We knew younger female audiences and K-pop [and] anime fans would love this film, but it’s been incredibly gratifying to see it embraced by an even broader audience and become a favorite film for both adults and kids,” Dan Lin, chairman of Netflix, told The Hollywood Reporter in August 2025.
KPop Demon Hunters follows HUNTR/X — a world-famous K-pop girl group made up of Rumi (Arden Cho), Mira (May Hong) and Zoey (Ji-young Yoo) — who moonlight as supernatural slayers. But their double life gets complicated when a rival boy band, the Saja Boys, crashes the scene with sinister secrets.
While the story is magical enough on its own, the film’s Billboard-topping soundtrack turned it into a runaway success, accompanied by a sing-along theatrical release. KPop Demon Hunters clearly struck a chord with audiences, leaving fans eager to find their next animated musical obsession as they await news of a sequel.
From heartfelt coming-of-age tales to music-filled fantasy epics, here are eight movies fans of KPop Demon Hunters should watch next.
