Joe Jonas is spilling some secrets from the sky — and let’s just say his mile high club story didn’t exactly go as planned.
The Jonas Brothers singer, 36, admitted that while he’s officially joined the club, the experience came with a moment of pure embarrassment thanks to a mix-up after leaving the plane’s bathroom.
“Left the bathroom, I thought I was high-fiving my drummer,” Joe revealed during an appearance on the “Are You Okay Show” on TikTok in a video shared August 19. “After the high-five, I realized it was the flight attendant.”
Thankfully for Joe, the setting worked in his favor. “It was a private plane,” he added with relief, joking that at least he wouldn’t be “banned from flying.” And when asked the big question — was it worth it? — the pop star didn’t hesitate: “Yes.”
Joe’s infamous midair encounter likely happened before August 2022, when he underwent eye surgery to fix his longtime nearsightedness. The DNCE frontman opted for EVO ICL lenses, which are implanted rather than involving tissue removal like LASIK.
“I’ve been performing and touring ever since I was 15 years old with my brothers, and, after long days and nights, I wished I didn’t have to worry about accidentally sleeping with my contacts in or keeping track of where I put my glasses and to simply be able to wake up and see clearly,” Joe told Brinton Vision at the time.

At that point, Joe was still married to Sophie Turner, though the pair later announced their separation in September 2023. The two finalized their divorce one year later following a contentious custody battle over their daughters Willa, 5, and Delphine, 3.
“I’m unhappy with the way everything played out, especially when it comes to my children. They’re the victims in all of this,” Sophie told *British Vogue* in May 2024. “But I think we’re doing the best we can. I’m confident that we can figure it out. Joe is a great father to our children, and that’s all that I can ask for.”
Since then, Joe has been slowly navigating life after divorce. He briefly dated model Stormi Bree and admitted in May that stepping back into the dating world was nerve-wracking. “Love takes different shapes and forms,” he said during a TalkShopLive stream. “And I was rediscovering what that was.”
