- Alexis Von Yates was originally charged with sexual battery on a person between 12 to 18 years old
- Her alleged crime dates back to July 2024, when her stepson was visiting her and his father
- Authorities previously said Yates was caught when the 15-year-old’s father walked in on her engaging in sexual activities with the boy
A Florida woman has taken a plea deal a little over a year after her husband caught her sexually violating his teen son.
Alexis Von Yates, 34, of Ocala, Fla., was arrested in November on a charge of sexual battery on a person 12 to 18 years of age by a person in familial custody, PEOPLE reported in April, citing Marion County authorities.
However, on Thursday, Aug. 21, Yates entered a no contest plea to a lesser charge of lewd and lascivious battery, per COURT TV and WCJB, as part of the deal.
Marion County Jail
Yates, a former nurse whose license has since been suspended, was arrested in November following an “anonymous” tip alleging she engaged in sexual activities with the boy on July, 30, 2024, according to a Marion County Sheriff’s Office arrest affidavit previously obtained by PEOPLE.
Authorities allege she had sex with the child without a condom while he was visiting his father for summer vacation, and that the father had walked in on the two of them.
During the child’s stay, Yates also made several comments about being “horny,” per the affidavit. On at least one occasion, she told the teen she wished he were 18, because he was “not old enough.”
In court on Thursday, prosecutors said that the victim’s family felt it was “justice for them for this counter-offer to be accepted,” so as to spare the child reliving his trauma, as seen on COURT TV.
