How to Make Cheese Sauce for Pretzels
In a small saucepan melt 1 Tbsp. salted butter over medium. Add 1 Tbsp. all- purpose flour and whisk to combine. Continue cooking and whisking 1 minute. Slowly whisk in 1/2 cup whole milk. Bring mixture to a simmer, whisking constantly. Simmer until mixture coats the back of a spoon, 1 minute. Remove from heat and gradually whisk in 3 oz. ( 3/4 cup) shredded medium cheddar cheese (we don’t recommend using pre-shredded cheese) until melted and smooth. Season to taste with salt and a pinch of chili powder, if you like.
