Alison Pill and Joshua Leonard have ended their marriage.
The Blair Witch Project actor, 50, revealed that he and actress Pill, 39, “were officially divorced a few weeks ago” in an Instagram post shared Aug. 15.
“For the sake of alacritous disclosure, and to pave a future for more aligned & transparent matters … @msalisonpill and I were officially divorced a few weeks ago — after a few years of separation and practice,” Leonard wrote alongside a throwback photo with Pill.
The snapshot also included their now-8-year-old daughter Wilder and a woman Leonard referred to seemingly with, “Long live the spirit of #auntfrances.”
About his split from the Scott Pilgrim vs. the World actress, Leonard wrote, “Yes, life happened to us. That’s nothing to gloat about.”

The actor and filmmaker went on to rave about his dynamic with Pill now, “And YET, we’re A+ co-parents, and Alison remains one of few truly brilliant humans I’ve ever encountered.”
“And while the best path forward may not be storybook-rote (or even ready!)… it reveals itself in stanzas – a disorienting novelty – such are the fears and wins of life,” Leonard added.
Leonard and Pill got engaged in January 2015. The Bates Motel star proposed during a group hiking trip to California’s Joshua Tree National Park, he told PEOPLE following their engagement.
“I told her that I loved her more than anybody on the planet,” Leonard said of the Trap actress. “It was pretty good. Her hands were shaking, and so about 30 seconds after I gave it to her I said, ‘You might want to put that on now.’ ”
Pill later tied the knot with Leonard in front of family and friends in Los Angeles that May, after a four-month engagement.
“We’re married!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” the Canadian actress announced on Instagram, sharing a photo.
The former couple welcomed daughter Wilder in November 2016. “So much to be thankful for,” Pill captioned a family photo following her baby’s arrival. “Wilder Grace Leonard, born November 19, 2016. ‘Oh, earth, you’re too wonderful for anybody to realize you. … Do human beings ever realize life while they live it? — Every, every minute?’ ”
