For most of us, a back-to-school book bag is a kind of small backpack for storing study supplies. But for Jennifer Lawrence, a simple everyday outing is a chance to show off a tote bag that advertises a literal book. In this case, the Bram Stoker classic Dracula, the gothic novel that popularized the vampire genre.
For a stroll in New York City, the Oscar winner stepped out in a white sweatshirt layered over a white tee, tomato red jeans (she loves tomato red pants) and black slip-ons, and carried a Dior bag printed with the cover of Dracula. Trying to get rumors of a remake buzzing or just getting into the Halloween mindset early?

The Dior Book Tote has been a staple of the brand’s handbag line for years, but that’s not what this is. This seems to be an early, celebs-only launch of an upcoming product that you can sign up to receive updates about on the Dior site (here). Rihanna’s carried the same one (like Jennifer Lawrence, Rihanna is a Dior brand ambassador). TikTok is talkin’ bout it, naturally.

Over on Reddit, you can see pictures of a Madame Bovary version and an In Cold Blood version, but neither of those exist on the Dior website, just Dracula, so, who knows if they will ever exist outside a showroom. And yes, you can already find a version on Etsy, although it’s less of a dupe and more of a yellow bag that says “Dracula.”
So, is this Dior’s attempt to get in on the yellow trend? Hoping something with recognizable IP that says “literary” will stand out online? Do we finally have a calling card for the performative female? Not that we’d ever accuse JLaw or Rih of such a thing, but you know what we mean…
