Jill Duggar Dillard found a special way to honor her late daughter.
The 19 Kids and Counting star, 34, marked what would have been her daughter Isla Marie’s first birthday with a family visit to her daughter’s final resting place. Duggar Dillard shared various clips and photos from the day in an Instagram Reel that she shared on Monday, Aug. 25.
Duggar Dillard spent the day at the cemetery with her three boys, Frederick, 3, Samuel, 8, and Israel, 10, and husband Derick Dillard.
“This August marks what should have been a time of celebration. We should have been celebrating her 1st birthday in style with a smash cake and all things pink,” the mom wrote in text over the video. “But instead, we changed out her pink grave flowers for some new ones and took a walk around the cemetery with the boys and thought about how she would be toddling along with the big bros and be so loved (and picked on too of course 😄).”
“I’m forever grateful for the opportunity we had to carry our sweet girl for 4 short months,” she continued. “In honor of Isla Marie, see helpful support info in my description below!”
In the caption, the Counting On alum opened up more about her pregnancy loss, saying that the couple still doesn’t know exactly what caused it.
“💗We were due last August with our first girl…this year, we should have been celebrating her 1st birthday with a smash cake and all the fun milestones,” she began. “💗We don’t know exactly what caused the loss, but after lots of testing, they concluded that the most likely cause was a fluke subchorionic hematoma/hemorrhage that wasn’t detected until later, so nothing likely would have changed things.”

She went on to share more information on pregnancy loss, as well as tips for anyone dealing with or who knows someone going through pregnancy loss.

The reality star first revealed the tragic news in a joint post shared on Instagram with her husband in April 2024.
“It is with heavy hearts that we announce the stillbirth of our beautiful baby girl, Isla Marie Dillard,” the couple began. “Jill was 4 months pregnant (due in August) when we found out that our baby died in utero.”
“From the moment we found out we were pregnant, we couldn’t wait to meet our baby,” they continued. “Isla was much loved from the start, and her 3 big brothers were so excited to introduce her to their world.”
The couple added, “We appreciate your prayers as we continue to grieve and heal from the loss of our little Isla Marie. 😭🩷.”
