Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce‘s announcement that they’re engaged broke an impressive record on Instagram.
After Swift and Kelce shared the news of their engagement on Tuesday, Meta revealed that the photos of the professional athlete proposing to the pop star have surpassed 1 million reposts on Instagram. The engagement on the post is more than any other post has received on the social media website, according to data obtained by Billboard. Not only did their joint post earn the most amount of reposts ever, but they also managed to achieve the record in just six hours after the announcement was shared.
The post earned an impressive 14 million likes just one hour after it was shared, while it has more than 30 million likes as of the time of publication.
“Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married,” Swift and Kelce wrote alongside several photos from their engagement that were taken in a garden. One photo showed Kelce down on one knee, while another gave fans a glimpse at Swift’s large diamond ring.
In addition to the photos from the intimate moment, Swift’s song “So High School” is playing over the post. The track, which is featured on her 2024 The Tortured Poets Department album, is speculated to be about Kelce.
After the post was shared, Spotify reported that “So High School” jumped nearly 400 percent on the platform. However, Spotify did not disclose how many streams the song got overall or if any of Swift’s other songs saw a jump in light of the engagement announcement.
Swift and Kelce started dating in 2023, and their romance quickly garnered significant media attention when she began attending his football games with the Kansas City Chiefs. Meanwhile, Kelce was spotted attending several of Swift’s Eras Tour dates before the tour concluded in December 2024.
Nearly two weeks before they announced their engagement, Swift made her podcast debut when she appeared on the Aug. 13 episode of Kelce’s New Heights. The couple opened up about the early days of their relationship, while Swift also took the opportunity to announce her 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl. She also unveiled the artwork, track list and an Oct. 3 release date.
