Dwyane Wade, Gabrielle Union’s Daughter Kaavia Looks All Grown Up on First Day of School

From “Shady Baby” to stylish first grader!

Gabrielle Union and Dwyane Wade’s adorable daughter, Kaavia James, is celebrating a major milestone alongside her proud parents. 

“Proof that time doesn’t walk — it sprints 🥹 #firstgrade,” Union captioned the sweet Instagram post featuring photos and videos from her first day. 

Kaavia rocked her uniform of a forest green polo shirt and matching skirt, wearing her hair in two braids with a headband and light blue Nike sneakers. 

On her first day of school board, Kaavia shared that she’s (exactly) 6 and ¾ years old, her favorite color is light blue — like her shoes — and her favorite things to do are “hang out with my besties” and “play, play, play.” 

As for her favorite food, Kaavia listed a “Nutella wrap,” and she shared that she wants to be a dance teacher or a teacher when she grows up. 

The career aspirations have changed in the months since Kaavia’s kindergarten graduation, when she listed a different occupation. 

“I would like to be an actor,” Kaavia responded when asked about what she wanted to be when she grew up in front of the cheering graduation crowd.

In one first-day clip, Kaavia’s proud parents stood side-by-side snapping photos of their daughter while grinning. Union reposted the clip on her Instagram Stories, writing, “Any other parents do this?!?!” 

Kaavia looked thrilled to be starting school, grinning in one pic while sitting at her desk and holding hands with a pal in another shot. 

Union has been in a nostalgic mood lately, sharing a sweet montage video of Kaavia first as a baby and then as a little girl. 

“Time may fly but my love for you will never @kaaviajames 💕who’s cutting onions? 😭,” Union captioned the clip.
