Every time the George and Amal Clooney set foot on a red carpet, it looks like something out of a movie. The lingering gazes, the hand-holding—you might think they’ve just gotten engaged, but in reality, they’ve been married for 11 years. This is a real life fairy tale if there ever was one.
The fairy tale illusion is perpetuated by Amal’s wardrobe, too. Earlier this week, she set the bar high in a butter yellow dress reminiscent of the one she wore to the real-life royal wedding of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry. And on August 29, we woke up to yet another spectacular look.
At the Venice Film Festival premiere of Jay Kelly, directed by Noah Baumbach and starring George, Amal hit the red carpet in a vintage Jean-Louis Scherrer dress. She styled the look with silver Aquazzura T-strap heels and a gold Jimmy Choo clutch, playing into the mixed metals trend that’s so 2025.
As for the dress, it’s arguably the first time we’ve seen Amal Clooney take so many risks. From the asymmetrical cut to the billowy ruffled taffeta to the color—fuchsia is not a shade she gravitates toward—there’s a lot going on here, but the risk paid off. The cinched bodice and trail of buttons down the midline are kind of bridal, while the color and poofy volume are a little princess-y—a perfect union that couldn’t be more perfect for the woman living our fairy tale dreams in real life.
Paired with her perfectly-highlighted blowout and sun-kissed, bronzey makeup, the look is one for the books.
