Mortal Kombat II will now be hitting theaters on May 15, 2026.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, this move was likely in an effort to avoid competing with the number of other movies being released in October 2025.
Other movies being released that month include Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere, After the Hunt, and Bugonia, among many others.
The synopsis for the sequel reads as follows: ” This time, the fan favorite champions—now joined by Johnny Cage himself—are pitted against one another in the ultimate, no-holds barred, gory battle to defeat the dark rule of Shao Kahn that threatens the very existence of the Earthrealm and its defenders.”
