Two adults died and seven children were injured during an accident at an ATV park in Alabama.
Two ATV vehicles carrying a total of 11 people collided on a trail at Indian Mountain ATV Park in Piedmont on Saturday, Aug. 30, according to AL.com.
Paul McDonald of the Cherokee County Coroner’s Office confirmed the incident to AL.com, WBRC and CBS 42, stating that one person died on the scene while the other died after being airlifted to a hospital.
Three other victims were airlifted to local hospitals, while the other four were transported by ambulance, the outlets reported. One of the injured children is in critical condition, per AL.com.

In a statement to AL.com, McDonald said, “Our heartfelt thoughts and prayers are with the families who lost their loved ones and with those who were injured.”
“Please continue to lift these families and all first responders in your prayers,” he added.
The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) told PEOPLE via email that a statement will be released “soon.”
The Cherokee County Coroner’s Office did not respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment on Sunday, Aug. 31.
According to AL.com, nine people were in one of the ATV vehicles, while the other had two passengers.
After the crash, the ATV with the larger group traveled another 150 feet before rolling over and hitting a tree. The two people in the other ATV were not injured, the outlet said.
The two who died in the tragedy are believed to be a husband and wife, AL.com reported.
The identities of the victims have not been publicly released.

The CCSO’s Jeff Shaver told AL.com that the emergency call came in around 3:45 p.m. local time.
The sheriff added that the scene was difficult for responders to access, as “some of those trails are up the side of Indian Mountain.”

Spring Garden Fire, Floyd EMS, Piedmont Rescue and Cherokee County EMA also responded to the incident.
The Indian Mountain ATV Park, located in the Appalachian Mountain range, is a large private off-road park with 4,700 acres of land, according to the website. The park offers off-highway vehicle riding, camping, fishing and hiking.
