Will Forte has nothing but good things to say about his time working on The Four Seasons!
The SNL alum, 55, spoke with PEOPLE on set with the tourism nonprofit group Visit California, in Joshua Tree, Calif., and opened up about traveling with his famous costars as well as how he thinks the second season of the Netflix series will conclude filming.
Adapted by Tina Fey, Tracey Wigfield, and Lang Fisher from the 1981 Alan Alda film of the same name, The Four Seasons follows a long-time friend group made up of three couples that’s upended when one of the couples breaks up.
Forte and Fey, who play one of the married couples, are joined by Steve Carell, Colman Domingo, Marco Calvani and Kerri Kenney-Silver.

Netflix renewed the breakout hit for a second season just two weeks after releasing the series on May 1.
“I’m so excited,” Forte tells PEOPLE of returning for season 2. “I love how the show turned out.”
Part of his enjoyment came from being surrounded by talented actors like Carell, Fey, Domingo, Calvani and Kenney-Silver.
Asked about the experience of traveling with the rest of the cast, The Last Man on Earth star says, “There’s something about being in an area where everyone is away from home that it’s always fun because you’re usually staying at the same hotel or the same two or three hotels [and] it’s a big group.”
He adds, “It’s like a constant — I don’t want to say party because it’s not, that makes it seem like everybody’s partying — [but] you’re working during the day and then everyone’s kind of going to the same place for dinner … it’s really fun.”

One way he and the rest of the cast made the most of their time together: saving the best for last.
“We did it so that Puerto Rico was the very last place that we shot,” he shares.
The series began filming in upstate New York in the Hudson Valley, where Forte says he and his costars spent time “getting to know each other” and “becoming really tight.”
“Then it’s essentially like, ‘Oh, the last two weeks we’re all going on vacation with each other,’” he recalls.
Forte says that ending the filming with a “vacation” of sorts is “likely what we’ll do this next time.”
He adds, “It was just such a fun way to end it.”
As for what locations will be included in season 2, Forte tells PEOPLE, “That’s all in Tina’s hands.”
Of his former SNL co-star, Forte adds, “I will go wherever they tell me to go. I’m so honored to be a part of that show. She’s the best … best of the biz.”
