Chase Chrisley is ready to take a big step in his relationship with his girlfriend, Jodi Laine Fournerat, but his mom, Julie Chrisley, isn’t exactly on board.
On an episode of The Chrisleys: Back to Reality, airing Tuesday, Sept. 2, Chase opted to spend Easter with Jodi’s family in Louisiana over his own. He has been spending most holidays with Jodi’s family since his parents have been away in prison.
Speaking highly of Jodi’s loved ones, Chase, 29, told the cameras that her family “treats me great.”
“Nobody in her family has ever been rude or anything like that,” he said. “They’ve all been very welcoming. Obviously, I miss my family and I wish that we were all together, but I’m thankful that I have her family to lean on.”
Jodi’s family has given Chase the stamp of approval.
“I enjoy having Chase around. I do love him,” Jodi’s mother, Gigi, said.
“He fits in with our family,” she continued. “Even though he wasn’t raised here, he has a lot of the same values and beliefs that we do, and that’s very important to me.”

“He gets along with everyone — everyone here loves him. He’s like an old soul.”
At one point, Gigi said that she feels as if the pair “have a special bond” as the couple tends to “spend so much time” with Jodi’s family in Louisiana.
As things continue to go well for Chase and Jodi, the Chrisley Knows Best alum has big plans.
Given the huge sacrifice Jodi made moving to Nashville, where Chase currently resides, the Gold Drop founder admitted that he “would” consider moving with her to Louisiana one day.
“I could definitely live on property like this, for sure. I think anyone could. It’s like a little slice of heaven,” Chase shared with the cameras of living on her family’s farm, ahead of Jodi noting in a separate confessional that her beau “loves it” out here.
Chase also compared his family to Jodi’s own, saying, “Nobody’s getting into each other’s business and worried about what they’re doing 24/7, and they just love each other” while his relatives “family, on the other hand, they love to get up in my business and think they know what’s best for me.”
But Chase isn’t going to let his family stop him from what he’s preparing to do next.
“After I get home, I’m going to visit my mom, and it’ll be great to see her, and I’m also gonna let her know that we’re gonna propose to Jodi,” she revealed. “So, that should be interesting.”
Julie addressed her thoughts on Chase’s proposal plan in a call made from prison.
“Chase and I had a hard conversation when he came to visit,” she said. “Again, just because I am in prison does not mean that my job as a mother stops. Yes, it is very much limited as to what I can do, but I am still at my core, a mother to the children, and, you know, when he told me that he wanted to marry Jodi, I was not thrilled.”
Explaining her reasoning, Julie, 52, said: “I don’t know.”
“I can’t be on board with my son marrying someone that I don’t even know,” she added.

Later, while dining with Jodi and Julie’s parents, Chase recalled his “intense conversation” with Julie about getting engaged.
“She hasn’t got an opportunity to know you because she’s sitting in prison. I was like, ‘At the end of the day, this is who I’ve chosen to be my wife and eventually the mother of my children,'” Chase recalled to Jodi and his grandparents. “I was like, ‘And I want you guys to have a good relationship.’ She was like, ‘When I get out of here, I’m looking forward to meeting her,’ and ‘It’s not like I’m not gonna give her a chance.'”
From there, directing his words to Jodi, Chase said, “But at the end of the day, I’m not gonna let anybody, not my family, not a stranger on the street and make you uncomfortable or disrespect you. … We just won’t come around.”
Given their situation, Jodi felt as if she didn’t “have a fair shot” at earning the approval of Chase’s loved ones. But, he countered that of his past relationships, his parents have “never really given anybody a fair shot.”

Chase publicized his new relationship with Jodi in November 2023. Their union came months after Chase ended his off-and-on romance with Emmy Medders for good earlier that year.
Two years into their relationship, Chase and Jodi spoke with PEOPLE for their first joint interview, detailing their love story.
“We met through mutual friends, and then I went on her Instagram, and just liked a bunch of pictures back, to back, to back, to back, to back. And she called me out for it on her Story,” Chase recalled. “And I was like, ‘The hell is wrong with you? Why would you do that?'”
“The rest is history,” said Jodi.
“Yeah, the rest is history,” Chase continued. “We hung out, and it’s literally been history ever since.”
He also credited Jodi for being “a big reason why I quit drinking, too.”
“Without her support throughout the last two years of my parents being gone, I really don’t know where I would be, if I would even be here,” he candidly shared, referencing his parents Todd and Julie’s former imprisonment.
