Channing Tatum may have just joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe last year as Gambit in Deadpool & Wolverine, but he actually first auditioned for the franchise over a decade ago!
In a new interview, the 45-year-old actor looked back at bombing his audition to play Thor in the 2011 movie of the same name, which was directed by Kenneth Branagh.
Keep reading to find out more…“I didn’t really want to be Thor,” Channing admitted to Variety. “But I wanted to audition in front of Kenneth Branagh.”
“After I did one take, [Branagh] was like, ‘You’re not allowed to move. Put your hands on this chair,’” he recalled. “And I froze. He nailed my crutch. I spent the next five years really trying to learn stillness.”
Ultimately, the role of Thor went to Chris Hemsworth and the rest is history.
