The film was Davis’ first. She played one of five teenagers who investigate an abandoned mental hospital and discover that a disfigured killer who was thought to be dead a decade prior had come back to life.
Davis would go on to have a successful career, with a breakout role as Brooke Armstrong on Melrose Place followed by her now-iconic portrayal of Charlotte York in the Sex and the City franchise.

In a recent interview on the podcast Hey Dude… the ’90s Called with Christine Taylor and David Lascher, Davis spoke about how “intimidating” Melrose Place was when she was first cast.
“Melrose was intimidating in, you know, so many ways, obviously,” Davis said. “I mean, I grew up … watching all the Dallas and Dynasty and blah blah blah. So it it meant a lot to me to be on there. Obviously, it was just a job also. Like, a certain point, you’re like, ‘I have won the lottery. Like, I have a job. I cannot believe it.’ “
She continued: “You know, it’s amazing, right, from a young actor perspective. And, I mean, as far as I know, I was gonna stay there. Like, I didn’t know that I was only gonna be one season, which I believe was 32 episodes, which is insane to think about now.”
