As a star of the new The Devil Wears Prada sequel, Pauline Chalamet is getting a front row seat at New York Fashion Week!
Speaking to PEOPLE at Veronica Beard’s Icons Party as part of New York Fashion Week, the Sex Lives of College Girls actress, 33, opened up about the moment she found out she had been cast in the sequel to the 2006 Anne Hathaway and Meryl Streep film.
“I blacked out. So I don’t remember,” she jokes. “I kind of didn’t believe it until I was given dates. I kind of went, ‘Oh, you pranked me, that’s not really going to happen.’ And then I was given the blueprint for the looks.”
According to Chalamet, she considers all of the looks from the original 2006 movie “iconic,” and says that the film has aged extremely well.
“It’s a perfect movie. And I really mean that, it is a perfect movie. It’s so fun,” she continues, adding that she considers herself to be “100 percent an Andie [Sachs, Hathaway’s character].”
“I can’t even pretend I’m not,” she adds. “With dreams of being a Miranda [Priestly, Streep’s character].”

Announced in July, The Devil Wears Prada 2 cast will feature Chalamet and tons of other newcomers, including Lucy Liu, Justin Theroux, B.J. Novak, Simone Ashley of Bridgerton fame, as well as the original cast members: Hathaway, Streep, Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci.
Chalamet says that she already adores some of her new costars, including Ashley.
“Simone Ashley, fell in love with her. I love her,” she adds of the Bridgerton star, before opening up about working with the rest of the crew.
“There are these two actors I worked with; I love them. Obviously, the whole O.G.,” Chalamet continues of the returning cast, joking that she “can’t even talk about it completely yet,” but says she loved working with all of the new cast members.
As New York Fashion Week gets into full swing, the actress opened up about who she’d like to sit alongside in the front row of a show.
“Anne Hathaway comes to mind, because I’m working with her and she’s so lovely,” she says, assembling her ideal front row seating arrangement before rattling off some other Devil Wears Prada cast members, including Streep and Tucci, as well as some newcomers and a few “obscure” answers.
“Grace Kelly, that’s my number one. And also, Alfred Hitchcock is walking the runway,” she jokes.
“But also, I sat in a show with Emma Chamberlain, and she’s really funny. It was really nice to be next her at a show,” Chalamet continues, before adding a heavy-hitter to her hypothetical list.
“I mean, Beyoncé…” she jokes. “Could I sit next to Beyoncé?”
One of her go-to designers for this year’s Fashion Week is Veronica Beard, Chalamet says of the label she was out celebrating on Sept. 9.
“I love Veronica Beard because it feels very effortlessly chic,” she adds. “That’s very important to me, where it’s elegant, if you put on a piece of clothing that makes sense to you, easy and has a fit.”
“I find that it’s very wearable and it’s really nice to have a brand of clothing that’s wearable and really stylish,” the star says.

According to the actress, one of her favorite things to do post-show is to simply grab something to eat — still wearing her glam look, of course.
“I like to grab a bite at a favorite spot, and it’s really fun to go all glammed up, and you’re like, ‘Oh, I’m just eating sushi in this,'” she says.
“I just went to this event that lasted 20 minutes and my glam took way longer,” Chalamet jokes. “But you feel like you’re living in The Devil Wears Prada. You feel like you’re so chic that life is your show.”
The Devil Wears Prada 2 is set to hit theaters May 1, 2026.
