The second set of Christmas Day NFL games on Netflix will bring back several of the people who called the action the first time around.
The NFL and the streamer announced the names of the people calling the two games on Tuesday. As was the case last year, CBS Sports is producing the games for Netflix, and all three members of the booth for the early game on Christmas (Dallas Cowboys at Washington Commanders) will come from CBS.
Ian Eagle will do play-by-play for the game, joined by analysts Nate Burleson and Matt Ryan. Eagle is CBS’ No. 2 NFL play-by-play announcer, and Burleson and Ryan (both former NFL players) work on CBS’ Sunday pregame show The NFL Today. Burleson also co-hosts CBS Mornings.
Eagle and Burleson called one of Netflix’s Christmas games last season, along with fellow CBS analyst JJ Watt.
The late afternoon game (Detroit Lions at Minnesota Vikings) will have NBC’s Noah Eagle (Ian’s son) on play by play and Super Bowl-winning quarterback Drew Brees as analyst. Noah Eagle also did play by play for Netflix a year ago, while Brees will make a return to the broadcast booth. He was with NBC Sports for a couple of years following his retirement from the NFL.
Sideline reporters for the two games and the crew for Netflix’s studio programming (which will be produced by NFL Media) will be announced later.
