Kate Middleton was in high spirits as she and Melania Trump took part in their first ever joint engagement during the US state visit.
The visit is well underway, as President Donald Trump and his wife Melania continue their historic, second-ever official trip to Britain. One of the most hotly anticipated events—involving both the Princess of Wales and the first lady—has seen the duo conduct a joint engagement in Frogmore Gardens, meeting with the Scouts Association, of which Middleton is Joint President.
For their first appearance as a pair, Kate chose to wear a pussybow blouse with a large bow around the collar, paired with an emerald green jacket and dark brown skirt. Melania, meanwhile, donned a tan suede jacket and white trousers. Together, the Princess and the First Lady greeted Dwayne Fields, Chief Scout, and could be seen chatting animatedly to him. It’s no wonder Kate appeared so relaxed: she has been involved with the Scouts since 2020, and has conducted numerous engagements where she has spoken of her love for nature and the importance of spending time outdoors.
Whilst the pussybow blouse was once a go-to look for Princess Diana, Kate Middleton has adopted the style as one of her own favorites over the last few years. The Princess of Wales has oft chosen the look for her every day engagements, including visits to the US and appearances in London, as well as for glamorous events and celebrations, including wearing a coral dress with a pussybow for nephew Archie’s christening in 2019.
Diana famously wore a white pussybow blouse along with a bold blue suit for her engagement photographs to Prince Charles, which were released in 1981. The late Princess of Wales would go on to wear the look on a number of other engagements, including for the 1985 Trooping the Colour parade.
