Reality star Dr. Wendy Osefo of Real Housewives of Potomac and her husband Eddie Osefo have been arrested and booked on fraud charges, according to the Westminster Police Department.
The couple, both 41, are facing a total of 16 charges, including seven felonies related to alleged “false/misleading info fraud” exceeding $300. They were booked in Westminster, Maryland on Thursday, October 9, with TMZ first reporting the news.
Police say the investigation began after the couple claimed designer bags and jewelry were stolen from their bedroom during a reported burglary in Jamaica in April 2024. However, Wendy was allegedly later seen wearing one of the diamond rings in a social media post. Investigators also discovered that some of the items they claimed were stolen had actually been purchased and returned to stores, with full refunds issued before the alleged burglary. Prosecutors allege the couple reported a $450,000 personal property loss to an insurance company, according to bail recommendation documents obtained by TMZ.
Wendy joined RHOP in season 5 and is also set to appear on Bravo’s new series, Wife Swap: The Real Housewives Edition, which premieres October 14. She has a long and accomplished career outside of reality TV, having served as a professor at Johns Hopkins University and a regular contributor on cable news channels. Wendy earned a Bachelor’s degree, two Master’s degrees, and became the first Black woman to earn a doctorate in Public Affairs-Community Development from Rutgers University–Camden. Eddie is an attorney and the founder and CEO of the cannabis brand Happy Eddie.
The couple shares three children: Karter, 12, Kruz, 10, and Kamrynn, 6. In August, they celebrated their 14th wedding anniversary with heartfelt tributes on social media.
“14 YEARS 💍 We did the work and prayerfully, God has done the rest,” Wendy wrote. “We have built a life that will outlive us, and for that I am forever grateful. If given the opportunity, I would choose you in this lifetime and again in the next. I’m blessed to call you my best friend and honored to have your last name. Happy 14th Anniversary my love. Cheers to Forever 🥂✨ #TeamOsefo.”
