Nobody is surprised that Olandria Carthen immediately became a fashion icon as soon as she left the Love Island villa, right? The fan-favorite Islander already has her first major cover under her belt, and she’s not gatekeeping the secrets behind her personal style, either. In her cover interview for Harper’s Bazaar Vietnam, Carthen got specific with how the American South has influenced her fashion sense. “Growing up in Alabama helped me develop a special love for dressing well,” Carthen told the magazine. “Southern fashion is beautiful—it’s clean, sophisticated, yet still has personality. I love clothes that have a defined silhouette and a statement piece. My beauty lies in the balance between elegance and self-expression—that’s the root of my style.”
