Born in 1992, Natali is the youngest daughter of Joe and Cynthia Germanotta. Like her elder sister, she attended the independent Catholic New York City all girls school Sacred Heart. But unlike her sister, who attended NYU Tisch briefly before dropping out to pursue a career in music, Natali attended Parsons School of Design and studied fashion.
Natali soon put that degree to good work, designing costumes for Lady Gaga’s Artpop (2013) and Cheek to Cheek (2014) world tours. She has also appeared on camera in a few Lady Gaga music videos, including “Telephone” in 2009. She also worked on Gaga’s 2019 film A Star Is Born as—you guessed it—a stylist, and attended the Academy Awards with her parents when Lady Gaga won an Oscar for best original song.
Her designs stretch beyond her elder sister. Earlier this year, Germanotta opened a costume supply and custom design store, On Stage Essentials, with her husband, Alex Dolan, in Las Vegas, which focuses on show girl costume-inspired looks. Germanotta also runs the fashion studio TOPO Studio, based in New York, which worked in partnership with On Stage Essentials for the Las Vegas Fashion Week showcase.
Natali’s love of the show girl aesthetic can also be seen in the teal crepe-back satin silk velvet dress with a feather capelet she designed for Gaga to wear for her performance at the 2022 Grammys. Gaga shared a photo of the dress on Instagram the day after the awards show, slyly thanking her sister for the design. “Thank you to @topostudiony for hand making this beautiful 👗 for me 🥰,” she wrote.
