While the four Brits gravitated toward the funny, Michael B. Jordan, Austin Butler, and Paul Mescal were more sincere with their YouTube selections. Jordan dove into his well-documented love of anime, sharing a clip from the manga series My Hero Academia. “Japanese culture, the themes of friendships, bonds, and promises and being sometimes the odd one out—the one that doesn’t belong, the one that society casts as the outcast, is usually the one that is the hero,” the Sinners star said.
Not to be outdone, Butler chose a similarly sentimental clip: Monica Martin performing “Go Easy, Kid,” with James Blake on the keys, in 2022. The lyrics spoke to Butler, who recited a whole chunk of them: “Go easy, kid, it’s only rock and roll,” he said. “There’s this line at the end where she says, ‘Twenty years from now, you wish you’d grabbed it all by the throat and said, Fuck it, it’s only rock and roll.’”
Before things got too emotional, Mescal lightened the mood with his selection: a supercut of bloopers from The Office. The men went on to discuss when they’re most likely to break while shooting a scene. For the Hamnet star, it’s often during intimate scenes where he’s “scantily clad.”
