The next chapter in Garth Brooks’ evolving career arrives this week when the country superstar appears on the video commerce platform TalkShopLive for a special one-night-only event.
“Garth Brooks Backstage & Behind-the-Scenes” streams December 1 at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT right here on RollingStone.com (below) powered by TalkShopLive. The program offers a rare, first-person account of the years chronicled in Brooks’ new photo book and music compilation, The Anthology Part VI: The Comeback, The Next Five Years, which traces how the country legend navigated stadium-scale triumphs, pandemic detours, dive-bar resets, and a long-awaited return to Ireland, where he played for more than 400,000 fans at Croke Park in Dublin in 2022.
While the anthology features the voices of bandmates, crew members, songwriters, and collaborators who lived each moment with him, the TalkShopLive special narrows its perspective to Brooks’ alone. Viewers will hear directly from the singer as he retraces the artistic and emotional decisions that shaped this period, including why he alternated between stadiums and small stages, how he handled the unprecedented shutdowns, and what it meant to rebuild momentum in real time.
Viewers can tune in live to watch Brooks talk about his journey over the last few years, while plugging his new Anthology, which features more than 150 never-before-seen photographs taken by Brooks and his crew, plus behind-the-scenes stories from life on the road, commentary on 2020s’ FUN! and 2024’s Time Traveler albums, and reflections on moments from a tour that took him across North America and Europe.
The anthology itself was born from a desire for the story to be told honestly by those who were there. As Brooks explains, “If someone’s gonna tell my life story, that’s the way I want it to be told.” TalkShopLive, meantime, says the special frames that idea from his point of view, giving audiences a “guided, personal walkthrough of the events and choices behind the volume.”
You can watch the Garth Brooks special right here on Rolling Stone at 7 p.m. ET on December 1. In addition to hearing from Brooks, viewers can shop limited-edition copies of The Anthology, Part VI, and also pick-up limited set of the complete Anthology I-VI.
Orders placed from TalkShopLive will ship on December 5, in time for the holidays. Brooks’ appearance comes on the heels of wife Trisha Yearwood’s TalkShopLive stream in June, where she promoted her latest album, The Mirror.
