Love is officially in the air for the Cyrus family — again! Just weeks after Miley Cyrus revealed her engagement to drummer Maxx Morando, big sister Brandi Cyrus is celebrating her own romantic milestone with longtime love Matt South. And yes, the proposal happened somewhere straight out of a rom-com.
Brandi, 37, announced the exciting news on December 26 with an emotional Instagram post revealing Matt popped the question in the very spot they first met — a cozy coffee shop she never would’ve walked into if life hadn’t intervened.
“I’m so thankful everyday that my flight got cancelled and I walked into this coffee shop one afternoon and found you,” she wrote in her caption. “You’re my very best friend and everything I’ve spent my whole life looking for. I love you forever!!!”
The “Sorry We’re Cyrus” podcast host went public with Matt earlier this year after quietly dating for quite some time. “Not sure what I did to deserve such a good woman,” the Mountain Choppers owner commented, “but I’m grateful for her everyday day! I love you!”
The couple received plenty of support from friends and family, including mom Tish Cyrus, who dropped three heart emojis, and Kaitlyn Bristowe, who wrote, “So happy for you.” Miley hasn’t commented publicly yet, but considering she’s still riding high from her own engagement, the celebration is likely just getting started.
Miley, 31, confirmed earlier this month that Maxx proposed during a romantic getaway to Japan — and she admitted it was one surprise she never saw coming.
“I am not easy to surprise,” she shared on Good Morning America on December 3. “I love to control every situation. I had completely surrendered. I’m telling you, I was so, so, so surprised.”
The singer has been open about how much she’s grown in her relationship with Maxx, which began in 2021. “It’s very obvious the amount of drastic growth I’ve had in those four years,” she said. “You want to dream the biggest you can and you want to have someone by your side who always tells you you can do it.”
Miley has also raved about how well Maxx treats her — and that the chemistry is undeniable. “I ended up with a person who means a lot to me and treats me really well and respects me,” she told The Cut. “My man’s hot as hell too.”
