What would you sacrifice for perfection? That’s the question posed by Ryan Murphy’s latest starry series, The Beauty, which takes place in the fashion world. The thriller’s The Substance-esque premise centers on a sexually transmitted virus that turns ordinary people into perfect physical specimens, but with disastrous and dangerous side effects. The first to start dying in gruesome ways? International supermodels (like Bella Hadid, who guest stars on the show).

What is The Beauty’s plot?
The Beauty takes inspiration from Jeremy Haun and Jason A. Hurley’s 2016 graphic novel of the same name. Per an official description, the series stars Evan Peters and Rebecca Hall as FBI agents tasked with investigating the mysterious deaths of several supermodels. They uncover a plot by a tech billionaire (Ashton Kutcher) who will protect his miracle drug (“The Beauty”) by any means necessary. An assassin (Anthony Ramos) gets caught up in trying to stop Kutcher before the virus destroys humanity.
Last summer, Hadid was spotted filming scenes for The Beauty in Paris, riding a motorcycle and wearing a skintight leather outfit, with slicked-back, wet-looking hair. At one point, the model emerged bloodied, with a considerable gash on her leg, onto the street.
Who is in The Beauty cast?
The main cast stars Evan Peters, Rebecca Hall, Ashton Kutcher, Anthony Ramos, and Jeremy Pope. In addition to Bella Hadid, guest stars include Isabella Rossellini, Amelia Gray Hamlin, Ben Platt, Jessica Alexanders, Vincent D’Onofrio, Ari Graynor, Billy Eichner, Jaquel Spivey, Jessica Alexander, Jon Jon Briones, John Carroll Lynch, Julie Halston, Lux Pascal, Meghan Trainor, Nicola Peltz Beckham, and Peter Gallagher.

The series marks yet another collaboration for Murphy and Peters. The duo famously teamed up for American Horror Story, Pose, and, most recently, Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story. The latter role earned Peters an Emmy nomination in 2024.
Is there a trailer for The Beauty?
The show’s official trailer dropped January 5, and features Kutcher as a megalomaniac whose goal is to spread “an STD that people will actually want”—aka, “The Beauty.” As the virus spreads worldwide, Ramos’s character tries to stop it. As one of the virus’s victims, Hadid goes off the rails at a restaurant, hitting a cook with a frying pan and shattering a mirror. Watch below:
