- The episodes will be released weekly until the season finale on Sept. 23
Alien: Earth is taking over the sci-fi world by storm.
The FX show, which is a prequel series to the hit 1979 film Alien, stars Sydney Chandler as Wendy, the first hybrid — a humanoid robot infused with human consciousness. After a mysterious spacecraft crashes on Earth, Wendy and a “ragtag group of tactical soldiers make a fateful discovery that puts them face-to-face with the planet’s greatest threat,” per the show’s synopsis.
Alien: Earth is set in the year 2120, when the Earth is governed by five corporations: Prodigy, Weyland-Yutani, Lynch, Dynamic and Threshold. During this time, there are cyborgs — humans with biological and artificial parts and synthetics — humanoid robots with artificial intelligence. While cyborgs and synthetics live alongside humans, matters change when hybrids are created.
In addition to Chandler, the cast also consists of Timothy Olyphant as Kirsh, Alex Lawther as Hermit, Babou Ceesay as Morrow and Samuel Blenkin as Boy Kavalier. The first two episodes premiered on Aug. 12 on FX and Hulu, but the rest will be slowly rolled out.
Here’s everything to know about the Alien: Earth release schedule, including when new episodes will be available to watch.

The first two episodes of Alien: Earth premiered on Aug. 12 at 8 p.m. ET on FX and Hulu.
The first episode, “Neverland,” introduced the characters and explained how Wendy became the first hybrid. As the episode plays out, a spaceship accidentally crashes into Earth, and an “unexpected alien threat” begins to emerge, per the episode’s synopsis.
The second episode, titled “Mr. October,” featured the rest of Wendy’s crew — including Tootles, Smee, Nibs and Curly — forming a group to help ease the escalating tensions “between rival corporations.”
“The show is built around Sydney’s character, and the work she did as a professional was tremendous,” the show’s creator, Noah Hawley, told Variety in July 2025. “Sydney’s character is someone who’s trying to figure out what her role is in this world and, on some level, the age-old question of, does humanity deserve to survive?”
Meanwhile, Chandler told Entertainment Weekly that she hopes “people like Wendy as much as I love her.” She added, “She’s my favorite character that I’ve ever been able to play.”

There are eight episodes scheduled for the first season of Alien: Earth. The prequel series is the first television show in the franchise, but Hawley explained that they structured it as a “proof of concept” in hopes of more episodes and seasons down the line.
“Season 1 is the proof of concept,” Hawley told Variety. “And if it works commercially, then Season 2 is about building a model upon which we can envision making a Season 3, 4, 5.”
Hawley added that Alien: Earth is “designed to be a recurring series.” He explained, “I don’t know how many seasons that would be. I believe that endings are what give a story meaning, so I have a sense of where I’m going with it.”
