Britney Spears’ ex-husband Sam Asghari didn’t hold back when asked about Kevin Federline’s upcoming tell-all book. The former personal trainer took a cheeky swipe at the dad of six, calling him a “professional father” in a brief but pointed comment.
In a clip shared by TMZ on Saturday, a photographer approached Asghari outside West Hollywood hotspot The Abbey and asked for his thoughts on Federline’s upcoming memoir, which promises to “detail his marriage with Britney.”
“Well, he was a professional father,” Asghari replied while walking away, adding with a smirk, “It would be the first book that’ll tell you how to be a professional father.”
Federline, who was married to Spears from 2004 to 2007, announced the memoir earlier this month. Titled You Thought You Knew, the book is set to hit shelves on October 21. According to the Daily Mail, the former backup dancer — who shares sons Sean Preston, 19, and Jayden James, 18, with Spears — teased that it will reveal personal insights into their “highly publicized marriage.”
“This book is extremely intimate and transparent,” Federline wrote in a press release. “I achieved my biggest dreams, dealt with crushing heartbreak and endured constant ridicule, all while becoming the father my children needed as they experienced non-stop emotional turbulence.”
Following the end of his marriage to Spears, Federline gained custody of their sons and received $20,000 per month in child support until November 2024, when both boys had turned 18. He later married Victoria Prince, with whom he shares two daughters, and he also has two grown children with ex-girlfriend Shar Jackson.
Spears’ romantic history is just as headline-worthy. She was briefly married to childhood friend Jason Alexander in 2004 before that union was quickly annulled. Years later, she met Asghari while filming her “Slumber Party” music video, and the pair eventually got engaged in 2021. Tragically, in May 2022, the couple suffered a miscarriage. “It is with our deepest sadness we have to announce that we have lost our miracle baby early in the pregnancy,” they said at the time.
Spears and Asghari tied the knot in a star-studded June 2022 ceremony, only to split in 2024. Despite their divorce, Asghari, 31, seems to still hold some affection and loyalty for his famous ex. In January, speaking to Page Six, he wished Spears “the best,” explaining, “I think that the number one factor of a partner is to be there for one another, no matter what.”
