Grab your Pucci and Missoni: Palm Royale season 2 is officially back on November 12 on Apple TV+. Along with the premiere date and rollout schedule, Glamour has exclusive details from showrunner and creator, Abe Sylvia, and first-look photos with Emmy nominee Kristen Wiig as you’ve never seen her before.
The Emmy-nominated comedy series first premiered in March 2024 and follows Maxine Dellacorte (Wiig, also an executive producer) as she attempts to find her footing in the cutthroat world of Palm Beach high society. The finale of season 1 was explosive, complete with several cliffhangers, including Maxine agreeing to turn Norma’s (Carol Burnett’s) mansion into a club; Norma asking Robert (Ricky Martin) to marry her; Mitzi (Kaia Gerber) learning she was pregnant; Maxine finding out Douglas (Josh Lucas) was the father; Norma’s true identity as Agnes coming to light; and most shocking of all, Robert being left for dead on the stairs of the 50th Beach Ball after being shot by socialite Mary (Julia Duffy).
And now we’re finally getting answers. In Palm Royale season 2, Maxine is left a social pariah after that very public breakdown on stage at the Beach Ball. She’ll have to prove that not only does she belong, but she just might have what it takes to rule this town. In doing so, she’ll uncover untold truths and finally understand what Palm Beach is truly built on (secrets, lies, and the occasional felony, to be clear).
“It’s bigger; it’s a wild ride,” Sylvia tells Glamour of the upcoming sophomore season. “Maxine is going through a personal revolution that I think aligns perfectly with the dawn of 1970s consciousness. She becomes a more radical version of herself in her quest to belong. She’s like, ‘I’m just going to knock everything down and be a bull in a china shop to be accepted.’ It’s probably the way most of us go through life, if I’m being honest. Nobody knows how to get through a day without feeling a little foolish or a little bit inadequate.”
In Maxine’s attempt do so, she must grapple with the reveal that her husband, Douglas, cheated on her with her manicurist and friend, Mitzi, and they’re expecting their first child. But will she be doing so while mourning Robert, whose fate was left up in the air after being shot by Mary? Knowing how many questions need to be answered, Sylvia teases what’s in store, as well as the Taylor Swift The Life of a Showgirl connection to the new season, and the guest star lineup that will floor fans. Get ready; Palm Royale is coming in hot.
