To say we’ve had a very “bob summer” would be putting it mildly. Just about every iteration of the cropped cut has surfaced, including the low key boyfriend bob, cool girl Parisian bob, and London-inspired pageboy bob.
Now we’re seeing a surge of the curved bob cut—especially among celebrities like Hailey Bieber, Esha Gupta, and Gigi Hadid—which is exactly what it sounds like: a bob or lob with the ends that curve slightly in or out. We’ve got all the details
What Is the Curved Bob?

A curved bob is a short haircut where the ends curve in like a sleek bevel or flip out for that playful, ‘60s-meets-2000s moment, says Davontae Washington, celebrity stylist for BaBylissPRO. “It’s ‘curved’ because the perimeter isn’t pin-straight; it’s got that soft C-shape that frames your face and makes the cut feel expensive,” she says. “Think of it as the classic bob’s flirty, high-maintenance cousin.”

Washington says she’s obsessed with the cut, noting that it has a polished effect without being too boring. Plus, it grows out nicely versus having a weird awkward growth phase. The curved bob style is even a nice option for those who had a shorter cut and want to grow their hair out a little longer.

The curved bob is popular right now because it’s so wearable, but it also has a lot of celebrity momentum behind it. “High-profile celebrities and influencers are also rocking this look, including Selena Gomez, Gigi Hadid, and Hailey Bieber,” notes Lindsay Worthen, stylist and beauty educator at Ogle School. We’ve seen it everywhere from casual social media snaps to high-profile red carpet events. And it looks so good every single time.
How to Get a Curved Bob Haircut
Simply ask your stylist for a rounded bob or lob with the length hitting right around your chin or a little longer, Worthen says. And make sure to explain that you want the ends to either curve under towards the face for a soft and polished look, or curved outward with a little flip.
To keep things fresh, you’ll need to hit the salon every four to eight weeks for a refresh. Worthen adds, “If you want to go longer in between haircuts, emphasize your need for softer layers to help minimize maintenance.”
How to Style a Curved Bob Cut
After applying a styling cream and heat protectant, use a round brush and blow dryer to blow out your hair.
“Roughly blow-dry the hair 80%. Once the hair is mostly dry, section the hair starting at the nape and use a round brush to create volume and bend the ends under,” Worthen instructs. “Your section size should be the same width as the round brush. Also, use a larger round brush to achieve maximum volume or bend in the hair.”
For more definition, use a flat iron with a beveled edge on the ends. You can also play with the texture. You can achieve a more modern-looking slicked back look with gel or pomade, or you can keep things soft.
