The husband of Yarely Ashley Hermosillo spoke out, five days after the Arizona-based influencer died in an alleged road rage incident.
The 27-year-old was struck by a stray bullet while in her car on Aug. 15. Her husband, Daniel Salgado, joined her mother, her sister and the Glendale Police Department for a press conference on Wednesday, Aug. 20.
“It hurts to lose your other half, but when it happens in front of you and you can’t do nothing, it’s a different type of hurt,” Salgado tearfully began the family’s remarks.
“Yarely’s life was just beginning,” he said. “We just moved into our new apartment. Her social media career was beginning to take off, and that was taken from her. You asked anybody who knew Yarely, they would tell you she was a glue to the family. She was a jokester. She was that caring person you could call when you needed somebody to be with. She would drop everything just to be with you. And she was an amazing cook.”
“I feel for my son when he goes to sleep at night and doesn’t get to cuddle with her,” he continued, referring to the couple’s 4-year-old son. “When we go for a walk, he waits to see his mommy coming out of the house, as she always would.”
Salgado then thanked the law enforcement before speaking directly to his late wife. “Yarely. We miss you, and I pray you get the justice you deserve for this avoidable, malicious act,” he said.
Hermosillo was known on social media for her cooking and lifestyle content, regularly posting to her Facebook, Instagram and TikTok accounts for over 300,000 fans across her platforms.
In a GoFundMe created to raise money for the late influencer’s family to cover funeral expenses and the cost of raising her young son, Hermosillo was remembered as “a loving wife, a devoted mother, and a beautiful soul whose light touched everyone who knew her.”
“She leaves behind her husband and their 4-year-old son, who now face an unimaginable loss,” the tribute continues. “Yarely’s greatest joy in life was being a mother, and she poured her heart into caring for her little boy.”
The post concludes: “We are forever grateful for every prayer, share, and donation made in Yarely’s honor. Thank you for helping us celebrate her life, carry on her memory, and surround her husband, son, siblings and mother with love during this devastating time. May her soul rest in peace, and may her memory live on through the love she gave so freely.”
Jesus Preciado Dousten, 33, was arrested on Aug. 16 in connection to the influencer’s death following “an intensive investigation” by the Glendale Police Department’s Homicide Unit, Sergeant Bryan Hoskin told PEOPLE.

According to police documents obtained by PEOPLE, Dousten has been charged with second degree murder, aggravated assault, misconduct involving weapons, and endangerment. He is being held on a $1 million bond, Hoskin said.
Per police documents, which cited traffic footage, footage from a nearby gas station, and the testimonies of several witnesses, Dousten was driving a pickup truck and allegedly entered a verbal dispute with another driver of a pickup truck on the passenger side of his vehicle while stopped at an intersection.
As the argument progressed, the driver alleged to police, Dousten displayed a black semi-automatic handgun, pointed toward the driver side of his truck, and yelled “you want some of this” in Spanish.
Dousten then allegedly fired the gun out of the driver side of his truck before driving off.
Per police, Hermosillo, who was sitting in the passenger seat of a vehicle to the left of Dousten’s at the time the firearm was shot, sustained what appeared to be a single gunshot to her right eye.

Hermosillo’s partner and mother, both of whom were in the car at the time of the incident, told police that they had recently picked Hermosillo up from work the night of the incident. After she was struck by the bullet, Hermosillo’s partner said, he immediately drove her to a nearby hospital, where police say she died later that night.
Police documents also confirm that Hermosillo’s young son was in the vehicle at the time of the shooting.
Using police databases and cell phone records, police tracked Dousten to an apartment complex where he was arrested at 10:43 p.m. the night after Hermosillo’s death. Police say they had located the gun he allegedly fired at his friend’s residence earlier in the day.
According to police records, Dousten has been convicted for several crimes over the last decade, including resisting arrest in 2022 and attempted theft of means of transportation in 2024.
Dousten has a preliminary hearing at Maricopa County Superior Court on Aug. 26.
