- A Reddit user asked whether or not she was in the wrong after denying her mother’s request to pick her up from the airport
- She revealed that her mother was flying in on her wedding date
- The Reddit user also revealed her mother asked so she could save $30 on the ride to the hotel
One bride turned to Reddit to see if she was in the wrong after her mother made an unusual request.
The OP (original poster) revealed that her mother called her and asked if her daughter, the soon-to-be bride, could pick her up at the airport when she flies in. But the OP also noted her mother is flying in on the wedding day.
“I was already a little annoyed by this request, but she also had the nerve to get pouty when we told her no,” the poster revealed. “My mom tried to point out that it could cost her $30 to arrange a ride to the hotel, and I was thinking….so what?”
“My fiancé and I are PAYING for the hotel that she is staying at,” she continued. “I know for a fact that my mother is not in such a financial bind that she cannot take an Uber or taxi.”
As she concluded, she remarked that “no one else in anyone’s family has made this kind of request.” Adding, “I know it seems minor, but I really can’t believe she would have the gall to ask something like this.”
The OP later explained in the replies that her mother is flying in on the wedding day, because, “my step grandma is also flying with her, and they can only be away from their home for a day because my grandpa is in poor health and needs constant attention.”
While she remarked those circumstances for the flight don’t bother her, it is her mother’s request that does. “However, my mom asking me to pick her up at the airport DOES bother me. I have other things to do that day besides wasting time picking her up.”

Several users called out the mother’s request. One user replied, “Your mom is (supposed to be) a big girl. Let her deal with it. You go & get married. Do your thing. Be careful and look out for more of your mom’s tomfoolery. Wanting you to delay the wedding so she can get ready, other crap like that. Be prepared to tell her off.”
“WTF? She is crazy even to ask you. Is there any other family that may be able to pick her up?,” another added. One person wrote, “No!!! Is a complete sentence.”
