Lydia Plath and Zac Wyse are jumping into marriage, but they’re holding off on any other big life changes for now.
During the Aug. 26 episode of Welcome to Plathville, the couple met with Lydia’s parents, Kim and Barry, to discuss their upcoming wedding. While Barry brought up the ways that marriage changes people, Lydia, 21, unintentionally started an awkward conversation.
“He’s gonna drive you up a wall with dad jokes,” the family patriarch teased about Zac, 23, to which Lydia replied, “Wait ‘till he’s officially a father!”
Surprised at the comment, Kim asked, “Is there something you need to tell us?”
“Absolutely not,” Lydia insisted. “I said wait ‘till. Wait.”

When Zac pointed out that they were saving their first kiss, Barry chimed in, “Among other firsts?”
“Among all the other firsts, yes,” Zac acknowledged.
“Oh, the fun firsts are coming,” Barry laughed. “Talk about some fun firsts.”
An uncomfortable Lydia attempted to change the subject, but her dad kept going.
“You’ll get to experience those just, you know, in the privacy of…” he began before Kim cut him off, asking, “Are we talking about what I think we’re talking about?”
“Oh, yeah,” Barry declared as Kim quipped that she needed “more champagne.”
“I think it’s going to be hard to not have children quick,” Barry continued.
However, Lydia revealed that she and Zac had other plans. “We really want to wait a while,” she said.
In their confessional, Zac explained that they “want babies,” but not too early on in their marriage.
“We have our own dynamic that we’re creating,” he noted. “And as part of that in the future, we plan to have children.”
Barry went on to tell Lydia she was “biologically crafted right now to want a baby,” claiming that getting pregnant in your 20s is “prime time.”
“You know I’m in that phase, right?” he said. “I’m like, bring on the grandchildren. It’s the fun phase, because when I’m done having fun, I get to hand them back to you.”

Lydia then admitted that she and her parents had never even spoken about sex before.
“I was just in denial that my parents would do that,” she joked. “I mean, a few years ago my mom said something about it, and I was like, ‘Oh, I know.’ And she was like, ‘How?’ I was like, ‘I just know. It’s common sense.’”
Kim added that she didn’t advise Lydia on birth control either, but she wanted to bring it up when the guys weren’t around.
“I guess it’s safe to say that you guys know how all that happens,” she said to Zac and Lydia, who responded, “We know enough.”
“I don’t want people to think that we raise our children in this little box and then we just throw them out to [the world],” Kim explained.
