Jessica Simpson and Eric Johnson Spotted Enjoying Sister Ashlee’s Vegas Residency

Jessica Simpson and estranged husband Eric Johnson were spotted together this weekend.

On Friday, Aug. 29, the former couple was spotted boarding a flight Burbank, Calif. to Las Vegas without their three kids Maxwell “Maxi” Drew, 13, Ace Knute, 12, and Birdie Mae, 6, per TMZ.

Jessica, 45, donned a pair of aviators and an oversized red crewneck, while Johnson, 45, was seen sporting a Georgia Institute of Technology baseball cap and a blue button-down shirt over a black T-shirt.

The pair headed to Las Vegas, where Jessica’s sister Ashlee Simpson kicked off her I Am Me residency at Voltaire at The Venetian Resort Las Vegas that night.

Per video footage captured by TMZ, the “Leave” artist and the NFL alum were spotted standing near one another and speaking with a group of people.

Amid the performance, the pair appeared to stand further apart as Jessica watched the “La La” performer, 40, take the stage.

In fan-captured TikTok footage from the concert, Jessica could be seen singing along near the stage as Ashlee performed her hit “Pieces of Me.” However, Johnson was not standing near her at that point during the show.

During the clip, Ashlee’s husband Evan Ross, who was standing close to the stage, walked up the steps to give his wife a hug while she was singing the track’s chorus.

PEOPLE has reached out to reps for Jessica for comment.

Jessica and Johnson announced their separation in January.

“Eric and I have been living separately navigating a painful situation in our marriage,” Simpson said in a statement to PEOPLE at the time.

She added, “Our children come first, and we are focusing on what is best for them. We are grateful for all of the love and support that has been coming our way, and appreciate privacy right now as we work through this as a family.” 

Johnson was spotted without his wedding ring in November 2024, and a source told PEOPLE at the time that the couple “very much live separate lives.”

The former couple initially met in 2010 and were married in 2014.

In February, Jessica revealed how making new music in Nashville for her Nashville Canyon, Pt. 1  EP helped her through heartbreak.

“I’ve grown up so much. I can handle so much,” she told PEOPLE. “Maybe I’m just meant to love a lot of people in my life.”

Jessica continued: “I don’t know why my heart gets tossed around but I’m one of the lucky ones. At least I have my children and I still have Eric. He’s still very much a part of my life and will always be.”
