Jenna Bush Hager’s Kids Threw Engagement Party for Taylor Swift, Travis Kelce

Hopefully Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce got an invite to their most intimate engagement party! 

On Tuesday, Sept. 2, Jenna Bush Hager returned to Today with Jenna & Friends after a two-week break from the NBC morning show, and, of course, was quick to discuss the big celebrity engagement news. 

“When it happened, I got so many texts, including from Talia, who works with us, that I was like, ‘Has something bad happened? Why did I just get a million texts?’ I’m like, ‘Oh, Taylor and Trav,’ “ Bush Hager, 43, said of the Aug. 26th announcement from the A-list couple, both 35. 

And while Bush Hager was out of the country on a family vacation in Rome, she noted that her three kids — Mila, 12, Poppy, 10, and Hal, 6 — marked the occasion in a special way. “My kids threw a little engagement party that night,” she shared. 

She then added that she too was impacted by the news, so much so that it drifted into her subconscious. “I had such a bad dream because I was like, ‘Oh, too bad we can’t talk about this on the show.’ I had a big anxiety dream where I was late for work, and I was like, ‘But we have to talk about Taylor and Travis and I’m late!’ “ she recalled, laughing.

“And then I woke up and I was like, ‘Oh, no, no, I don’t have work today,’ “ the TV personality said.

Guest co-host Willie Geist then teased that “they’re in our heads. They’re everywhere.”

Notably, Bush Hager and her former co-host, Hoda Kotb, predicted the couple’s engagement back in January, just days before Kotb’s exit from Today. 

After the engagements with Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco and actors Zendaya and Tom Holland, Kotb and Bush Hager decided to make a third engagement prediction for the remainder of the year.  “This is probably our final prediction as the two of us,” Bush Hager explained at the time before the co-hosts said the Swift and Kelce’s names in unison. 

The Today with Jenna & Friends Instagram account reposted the prediction clip shortly after the couple’s engagement news broke. Bush Hager commented, “I couldn’t be happier!!!!! ❤️”

While she was sad to miss the big announcement on her show, Bush Hager seemingly had a blast with her family on vacation. “We took the kids to Rome and we went to the Vatican and Hal was able to hang. He would kind of doze,” she said of her young son.

“He would just kind of fall asleep, but he also spoke so well. He’d be like, ‘Grazie mille!’ I’m like, ‘Oh my gosh, maybe we just move to Italy and make Hal Hager Italian,’ ” she continued.  

Bush Hager also shared photos from her family’s trip, which included her husband, Henry Hager, on Instagram, writing, “We ❤️ Roma! We will miss our home outside of Rome! @romecavalieri.”
