Pixie cuts dominated Emmys 2025 hair trends, and it seems like the roaring ’20s revival is officially upon us. This year, lots of actors traded their long locks and volume for sculpted, close-cropped haircuts. The styling channeled major flapper vibes, and we’re here for it.
Red carpet pixie cut debuts are always a major look. Back in January, Emma Stone’s Golden Globes pixie made headlines and last night, Carrie Coon’s platinum cut generated similar buzz at last night’s Emmy Awards. There are so many ways to style the super short cut—you can spike it up, slick it back, or let some soft texture frame your face. But among last night’s unusually high volume of pixies, the vibes were undeniably 1920s-coded.

Quinta Brunson’s Emmys 2025 hair was a masterclass in making a hundred-year-old style feel authentic and fresh. Her short hair was heavily gelled, giving it that high-gloss finish. Brunson’s stylist Suzette Boozer added extra vintage flair with kiss curls—hand-sculpted end curls which frame the face and lay flat on the forehead. This look was a beauty hallmark of Josephine Baker and other icons of the flapper era.
‘20’s pixies aren’t the first vintage hair trend we’ve seen celebrities embrace this year: Bardot bangs and Old Hollywood bobs have also been red carpet staples recently. “With the fast pace of trends today, many are drawn to these iconic styles that evoke a sense of nostalgia and sophistication,” Helen Reavey, celebrity hairstylist, certified trichologist, and founder of of Act+Acre, previously told Glamour. “It’s versatile and polished while still standing out.”
