There’s so much you can do with long hair—braids, updos, and texture—but introducing some fringe to the mix and suddenly you feel like a whole new person. And of course, tons of different bang styles exist for a never-ending assortment of combos to choose from. For some salon inspo, we asked stylists to dish on gorgeous long hairstyles with bangs that range from Japanese-inspired to ‘70s coded.

This long hairstyle with bangs totally embraces the undone, low-maintenance vibe we’re seeing everywhere right now. “I love the layers around her face-enhancing bangs, which have great weight left in them without making them feel heavy or blunt,” says Haley Heckmann, celebrity hairstylist for TRESemmé. “The whole look is kind of cool and low maintenance, and you could easily let your bangs air dry.”

This sleek, extra-long cut is paired with soft, full fringe for a very “off duty model” sort of vibe. “The bangs are cut straight across but with a light, slightly feathered edge so they sit smoothly on the forehead without feeling heavy,” says Paul Perez, hairstylist and cofounder of celeb hair salon FLORE Los Angeles. “The rest of the hair is kept very long and mostly one length, with the slightest layering at the bottom just to help the ends fall clean and straight.”
He says regular trims are key to keeping the bluntness fresh and the fringe even. At home, a flat iron and heat protectant are musts for achieving that smooth, shiny finish, along with a lightweight oil or shine spray to enhance the sleekness while preventing dryness on the long lengths.

This look is beautiful and really puts a spotlight on the long length and soft, pretty curls. Heckmann notes that the bangs really tie the whole look together. Whether you’re air drying or heat styling, she recommends using a bonding oil through the mid lengths to give that healthy, shiny finish.

If you love a sleek look, try on this long haircut with subtle, sides wept bangs that frame the face on either side. “This look is so pretty and sleek,” Heckmann says. After applying a smoothing cream, she says to “use a round brush to give a smooth blow-dry with the ends curled in.” Finish with a high-shine spray or glossy serum.
Japanese-Inspired Hime Cut

There’s absolutely no way you’re walking around with this Japanese-inspired hairstyle and not getting noticed. For those who dare, as your stylist for a blunt, extra long cut with microbangs and disconnected side fringe.
“The fringe is cut very short and straight across while the rest of the hair is left heavy, sleek, and one length for maximum impact,” Perez says. “The side fringe softens the overall look, but there’s little to no layering which gives the style its sharp, high-fashion edge.” You’ll need to visit the salon every few weeks to keep this one on point.
’70s Layers with Curtain Bangs

Boho hairstyles and all things ‘70s are trending right now as people gravitate toward max texture, volume, and that carefree spirit. “This look is such a classic, pretty messy wave, and you could do this look with or without hot tools,” Heckmann says. To do it without hot tools, she recommends using a smoothing cream when the hair is 75% dry and lightly twists.
“With a hot tool, you can let your hair air dry or blow-dry and then go in with a 1 or 1.25-inch curling iron and wrap small 1-inch sections around the iron in opposite directions,” she says. Style bangs and front pieces away from your face for that updated Farah Fawcett effect.

This long, layered cut features soft and voluminous fringe for a high-femme look that you can style a ton of different ways. “The bangs are cut full across the forehead with a subtle curve that frames the eyes and blends seamlessly into the longer pieces on the sides. The rest of the hair has long, feathered layers through the ends, which give the style bounce and movement while keeping the length intact,” Perez says. “The overall finish is glossy, feminine, and effortless, with a bit of natural body through the mid-lengths.”

This long hairstyle with bangs feels both glamorous and lived in. “I love how dainty and whimsical this look feels; it’s pretty and simple,” Heckmann tells us. “The bangs with her long, brushed-out waves are stunning. “To complete this look, I would start with a round brush blow-dry and, once all dry, go in with a 1.5-inch curling iron and curl away from the face on both sides.”
Finish by brushing out the waves with a boar bristle brush and add some texture spray to give it an airy, fluffy, textured finish.

This long, sharp-looking haircut is styled super straight and paired with full blunt bangs for more drama. “The fringe is cut straight across the forehead, with just enough texture at the ends to keep it soft and slightly piecey, framing the eyes beautifully,” Perez says. “The rest of the hair is kept long, smooth, and mostly one length with very subtle layering at the bottom, which helps the style fall naturally and maintain movement while staying polished. I love the sharp lines balanced with shine and sleekness.”
