Denise Parkinson has joined Variety in a senior international business role, overseeing development and marketing for global markets.
Based in London, Parkinson has a long resume in all aspects of entertainment and media marketing and sales. She will steer Variety‘s growing FYC activity in the U.K. and other global markets. She reports to Dea Lawrence, Variety‘s chief operating and marketing officer.
“With her deep industry relationships combined with her sales and marketing acumen, Denise Parkinson is uniquely qualified to provide Variety with a greater advantage in the international territories, particularly in connection with our FYC Awards business,” Lawrence said. “We are thrilled that she is bringing her dynamic energy and creativity to our growing global team as the overseas market continues to play a formidable role in our business strategy.”
Parkinson comes to Variety from Allied Global Marketing, where she was VP of business development and client solutions, working with major studios, festivals and top streamers. She has worked for such brands as Artificial Eye/Curzon, Bauer Media, Disney/ABC/ESPN, Yahoo, The Telegraph and One Football. She has also steered conference programming for Mipcom and MipTV, and festivals including Cannes, Rome and Monte Carlo. She began her career in marketing at the independent production and distribution company Palace Pictures.

Parkinson is a long-standing member of BAFTA and a Vice Patron of the Film and TV Charity. She serves as a non-executive director of London’s Regent Street Cinema and as a patron and non-executive of the TVE Global Sustainability Awards in Film.
